In this beautiful beach you'll always have plenty of space, thanks to its large sandy area. From the beach there are amazing views to the Sintra hills and to the westernmost point of the European continent - Cabo da Roca. It can usually be quite windy at this beach, but that's always good news for the windsurfers who have made it one of Europe's most popular spots for the sport.

Praia das Maçãs Beach– 50 mins (43kms) West of Lisbon

Picture
Maçãs Beach owes its name to a river that used to run in between apple tree fields, and the fruit used to fall into this river that has its mouth on the beach, delivering several Apples (Maçãs) into the ocean and the sandy area. The sandy area has about 250 meters wide, surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars and handicraft shops.
