Lisbon offers LGBT travelers an exceptional beach – Beach 19. This is Lisbon’s gay beach and it's one of the largest gay beaches in Europe. Beach 19 is located 30kms south of Lisbon, in Caparica Coast. This coast has an impressive 30kms extension of sandy beaches. Nudism is legal and common in Beach 19 Beach 19 is a nudist beach, so your swimsuit is optional. Nudism is legal and common, so you can enjoy the sun and the sea as you feel more comfortable. You can also just relax and enjoy the views! Being a naturist setting, Beach 19 provides you with the opportunity to be in perfect communion with Nature. Beach 19 is within a nature protected area Moreover, Beach 19 is located inside a 16 square kilometre protected nature reserve known as the “Paisagem Protegida da Arriba Fóssil da Costa de Caparica”. This reserve was created to protect the geological unique features of the area. The protection status prevented urban development in the area, allowing Beach 19 to remain a wild and natural environment. Beach 19 is very cruisy Beach 19 is surrounded by vast areas of dunes and forest. You can either stay near the ocean or further up, in the dunes area. The dunes are usually more protected from the wind, making them perfect for cooler or windier days. The dunes gradually give way to a vast area of forest and bushes. Gay cruising takes place mainly in the dunes and in the area of forest. This cruising area gets very busy particularly during the late afternoon. You can get some food at Casa da Praia Casa da Praia is the closest bar & restaurant to Beach 19. It is located near the parking lot to the north. This bar offers meals and beverages and it also has free WiFi. This area near the north parking lot is mostly family oriented so you will be able to see lots of naked straight men, alone or with their families. Walk south and the beach becomes increasingly gay. Beach 19 is the place for some fun under the sun Beach 19 is particularly busy during weekends and holidays in spring and summer. However, the mild climate of Lisbon allows you to visit the beach almost all year. If you are looking for fun in the sun this is the place to be.
