Le Marais is a (very) gay-friendly bar just a bit off the Bairro Alto in an area known as Santa Catarina. Despite that it is definitely close enough to be within easy reach from Bairro Alto or Principe Real. Very close to Le Marais you can find one of Lisbon's best viewpoints with a spectacular dramatic river scenery - Miradouro do Adamastor.  Thus, you must come to this area of the city and visit both the viewpoint and check Le Marais out. Le Marais is a Parisian-cafe inspired bar that opens early in the afternoon. Le Marais is a great place to enjoy a drink and meet locals or fellow tourists. Le Marais is also very popular with ex-pats, particularly the French community. Le Marais has nice comfy couches inside and you can also enjoy your drink on the street in front of it. There is a Mac where you can check your email and the web in general.  Le Marais staff is very friendly and there is a happy-hour. As a curiosity, Le Marais is one of the locations used in the making of the movie "Night Train to Lisbon".
